Kristine Parkes, MA
My maternal grandmother sparked my interested in genealogy. When she was 9 years old her mother died, and she lost touch with her mother’s side of her family. As an adult, my grandmother wanted nothing more than to connect with her aunts, uncles, and cousins. Over the years, she would share stories and her limited research with me.
I have more than 20 years’ experience researching family histories. I have traveled up and down the east coast, as well as to Germany, searching for family history in archives, libraries, historical societies, and cemeteries.
I believe in continuing education, and work to sharpen my skills as a professional genealogist through lectures, institutes and conferences. I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) and the Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter of the APG and adhere to the APG Code of Ethics.
I am a member of the Mahanatawny Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and am currently serving my second term as the Chapter’s Regent. I am also a member of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania, Friends of Hopewell Furnace, and Bulldog Club of Philadelphia.
My husband and I live with our very spoiled English Bulldog, Cobra Kai. In addition to my volunteer work with the DAR, I volunteer regularly with the Tri-County Active Adult Center.
